The Fluid Self and Unscripted Journey to Self-Discovery

 We crave variety in life. Sometimes we enjoy cuddling with the snow, and sometimes we prefer double the blanket. We alternate between drinking warm water and adding ice cubes, craving crowded gatherings and seeking the gentle solace of solitude. Our taste buds swing between desiring espresso with no sugar and yearning for a whole mug of hot chocolate. We find ourselves drawn to the fiery kick of jalapenos and habaneros, and other times, a cup of milk offers a warm hug. Some days we yearn for the clean crunch of a fresh salad, and other days we crave a cheesy slice of pizza. We alternate between action movies that pump our adrenaline and emotional dramas that tug at our heartstrings. We switch between experiencing the vibrant energy of pubs and streets and finding tranquility in the countryside retreat. 

Our preferences shift between majestic mountain ranges and sun-kissed sea shores. Sometimes we crave the energetic beats of a fast-paced song and dance, and other times, a soft and slow song washes over us, calming our minds and easing our souls. Some mornings we wake up before sunrise, greeting the day with open arms, and other mornings, pressing the snooze button is irresistible. One day we lace up our sneakers and hit the gym, and the next, we prefer a mindful meditation or yoga. Sometimes we want to channel our inner chef, making meals from scratch. And sometimes, ordering from DoorDash or Uber Eats becomes the preferred option. We sometimes drive our car to check the mailbox, merely a few feet away, and sometimes keep walking even a few miles, enjoying our own company. Isn't it fascinating how our preferences and desires constantly shift and change?


The fluidity of our preferences is a reminder that we are not bound by rigid definitions of who we should be. It opens us up to a world of possibilities, encouraging us to explore new experiences and discover aspects of ourselves we never knew existed. This constant state of flux may be unsettling at times, but it also holds the potential for immense growth and self-discovery.

Animal (2023): A Tale of Misogyny and Mayhem

  Two days ago, I received a phone call from a friend. With an enthusiastic voice, he declared, "Dai (meaning elder brother in Nepali), the movie is great and it's 10 on 10, we will look after the kids, you two (me and my wife) should watch this movie".
